The Certified Real Estate Administrative Specialist (CREAS) designation sets the standard.
Whether you’re starting out or already in the role, this is how you prove you can do it. Launching April 15, 2026.
CREAS is a professional certification for real estate administrative specialists in Canada and the United States.
THE CONTEXT
Real estate runs on administrative precision. But there's no standard that proves it.
The complexity of modern real estate transactions requires more than just “support”. It requires a mastery of governance, compliance, and strategic coordination. CREAS was born to bridge the gap between effort and institutional excellence.
Real estate businesses operate on contracts, compliance, deadlines, and fiduciary responsibility. Yet administrative roles are consistently filled without a defined professional standard. Training varies. Expectations differ. Competence is assumed rather than verified.
Inconsistent administrative execution is not a minor inconvenience. It creates operational risk, inefficiencies, and avoidable exposure for agents, teams, and brokerages.
Administrative professionals deserve a standard that reflects the complexity of what they do. Brokerages deserve confidence in the capability they’re hiring.
CREAS establishes that benchmark across solo agents, teams, and brokerages in Canada and the United States.
CREAS (Certified Real Estate Administrative Specialist) is a professional certification program that trains real estate administrative professionals to manage transactions, systems, and operations at a high level.
A credential earned through evaluation,
not attendance.
CREAS is a competency-based professional certification issued by REA University. Certification is awarded upon successful completion of structured assessments and a cumulative certification exam.
Candidates must meet defined performance thresholds across five core operational domains:
- Real Estate Operations and Workflow Management
- Transaction Coordination and Compliance Awareness
- Platform and Technology Proficiency
- Communication and Stakeholder Management
- Risk Awareness and Professional Standards
Certification is valid for three years and requires renewal through continuing professional development to maintain active status.
Each certified professional receives a unique certification ID, a digital badge, authorization to use the post-nominal designation “CREAS,” and listing in a public verification directory.
Example: Jane Smith, CREAS
This is not a course completion badge. It is proof of professional capability.

This is the level of organization, documentation, and control CREAS trains you to deliver.
A structured path to a credential that means something.
CREAS certification is earned through demonstrated competency across five operational domains. The program was built to prepare professionals for the real demands of real estate administration, not to hand out certificates.
THE PROCESS
- Structured curriculum covering the five operational domains
- Module assessments designed to evaluate applied knowledge
- A cumulative certification exam measuring overall competency
- A defined performance threshold required for certification
WHAT'S INCLUDED
- 14 structured learning modules
- 176 templates, checklists, and operational tools
- Guided exercises designed to reinforce real-world application
- Module assessments to verify competency
- A cumulative certification exam
Every module includes a course book, supporting documents, exercises, and assessments.
Certification is awarded once all module assessments and the cumulative certification exam meet the required performance threshold.
Students receive three exam attempts per assessment. If a passing score is not achieved within those attempts, a remediation review is required before another attempt is granted.
The goal is mastery of the material, not speed.
CREAS is currently open at founding member pricing of $697. This is a one-time rate available only during the founding cohort. Full price is $997. Once the founding cohort closes, founding member pricing will not be offered again.
The CREAS designation signals verified operational competency in real estate administration.
For professionals, it demonstrates readiness to operate within structured real estate systems.
For employers, it provides an independent benchmark for administrative capability.
For the industry, it establishes a professional standard where one has not previously existed.
Certified professionals may use the post-nominal designation CREAS after their name in professional communications, LinkedIn profiles, resumes, and email signatures.
Example: Jane Smith, CREAS
Starting your career in real estate administration?
Real estate admin is a legitimate profession with real complexity. Contracts, compliance, deadlines, and client communication require structured knowledge, not just good organizational skills.
CREAS gives you a credential to enter the industry with credibility. Rather than applying for roles with no way to prove your readiness, you graduate with a verified professional designation that signals you know what the work actually requires.
Stop being the best-kept secret on your team.
Administrative professionals drive transaction accuracy, operational consistency, and client experience every day. Yet the role has historically lacked formal recognition. CREAS changes that.
NEGOTIATE FROM PROOF, NOT PROMISES
Verified competency strengthens every conversation about compensation, scope, and responsibility. “Trust me, I know what I’m doing” becomes “Here’s the credential that confirms it.”
EARN TRUST FASTER
Agents and brokerages delegate more readily when your skills have been formally assessed. Less ramp-up. More responsibility from day one.
DIFFERENTIATE IN HIRING
A post-nominal designation and public verification directory listing signal credibility before you walk through the door.
SPEND LESS TIME PROVING YOURSELF
Documented standards shift the focus from oversight to outcomes. Certification reduces micromanagement.
MOVE INTO LEADERSHIP ROLES
Structured competence positions you for operations management, team coordination, and expanded administrative leadership.
CREAS formalizes what serious professionals already know: administrative excellence requires structure, precision, and accountability.
Hiring without a defined standard is a risk.
CREAS provides brokerages and team leaders with a clear hiring and performance benchmark for administrative professionals.
Certified professionals have:
- Demonstrated competency across defined operational domains
- Passed a cumulative certification exam
- Met a minimum performance threshold
- Committed to a three-year renewal cycle
- Maintained active status through continuing professional development
Employers can verify certification status through a public directory, providing clarity and confidence during hiring.
CREAS does not replace internal training. It establishes a professional baseline.
Who Is CREAS For?
For professionals who are ready to be trusted with real responsibility behind the scenes.
CREAS is designed for professionals who want to work in real estate administration at a high level.
This includes:
- Real estate assistants building or advancing their careers
- Transaction coordinators managing deals from contract to closing
- Listing coordinators handling documentation and compliance
- Administrative professionals transitioning into real estate
- Individuals entering the industry in a non-sales role
- Administrative team members supporting agents and teams
CREAS is for those who want to manage transactions, documentation, and systems with confidence and consistency.
A credential that evolves with the industry.
CREAS is issued and maintained by REA University. Certification standards are reviewed periodically to align with evolving industry practices, regulatory updates, and technology shifts.
As the credential evolves, CREAS will be guided by an advisory board composed of brokerage leaders, experienced operations professionals, compliance experts, and senior representatives from leading real estate technology platforms.
This ensures the credential remains relevant, rigorous, and industry-aligned across Canada and the United States.
Built from real transactions, not classroom theory.
CREAS was developed by Pam Ivey, a real estate industry educator with more than two decades of experience training administrative professionals and working directly with brokerages across North America.
Her work has focused on building structured systems, defined expectations, and competency frameworks within real estate operations. Pam holds a Certificate in Business Strategy from Harvard Business School Online.
CREAS was not designed in a classroom. It was built from real industry demands, current professional expectations, and two decades of knowing exactly where the gaps are.

FAQs
Do I need experience in real estate to enroll?
No. CREAS is designed for both experienced real estate administrative professionals and people entering the industry for the first time. The program builds competency from the ground up, so prior experience is not required. What matters is your commitment to learning the material and meeting the certification standard.
How long does it take to complete the certification?
CREAS is competency-based rather than time-based. Completion time varies depending on experience level and study pace. Most candidates complete the program within several weeks once they begin working through the modules and assessments.
What happens if I fail an exam?
You receive up to three attempts to pass each exam. Most students pass on the first or second attempt once they review the course materials and complete the guided exercises.
If a passing score is not achieved on the first attempt, review the course book, exercises, and supporting documents before your next attempt. If three attempts are unsuccessful, remediation is required before another attempt is granted.
What score do I need to pass?
Each exam requires a minimum passing score of 80%. The certification reflects professional competence in real estate operations, compliance, and administrative systems. The standard ensures graduates meet the expectations of brokers and real estate teams.
How many attempts do I get?
Students receive three attempts per exam.
- Attempt 1: Initial attempt after completing the module.
- Attempt 2: Second attempt after reviewing the material and correcting gaps in knowledge.
- Attempt 3: Final attempt after additional study and preparation.
What happens if I fail three times?
If three attempts are unsuccessful, the student enters remediation. Remediation requires a review session focused on the sections where performance was below the passing standard. After remediation is complete, an additional exam attempt is granted.
The goal is mastery of the material, not punishment.
What is remediation?
Remediation is a structured learning review designed to help students succeed. During remediation you will:
- Review the sections where mistakes occurred
- Complete targeted exercises to strengthen knowledge
- Demonstrate readiness before taking the exam again
This process ensures students graduate with the knowledge required to support a real estate business professionally.
Does failing affect my certification?
No. A failed attempt does not appear on your certificate. Certification is granted once the required passing scores are achieved.
What if I need more time to prepare?
CREAS is designed as a competency-based program. Students can take the time needed to study, review the course materials, and complete exercises before attempting the exam. Understanding the material is the priority.
Is support available if I get stuck?
Yes. Students are encouraged to review the course books, guided exercises, and supporting documents first. These resources were designed to answer the most common questions and reinforce learning. If additional help is needed, support is available through the program support channels.
Why are the standards high?
Real estate administrators handle contracts, compliance, transactions, deadlines, and client communication. Mistakes can create legal and financial risk for a brokerage. The certification reflects those real-world responsibilities. Graduates leave the program prepared to operate at a professional standard.
